Hull going downhill .
I think most of Yorkshire seems to be on a downward spiral. Go to Bradford and Dewsbury and that decline seems to be terminal. Hull is definitely not the City it used to be. Prince's Quay is unbelievable . I used to enjoy a visit to Hull there were also some good pubs in the city centre back in the day. Does anyone think Hull is better now than it was in the past and am I just a grumpy old man? My favourite pub in the past was Star of the West or Royal William which shows my age.

Yes, it's appalling now.
I remember going round town in the 80's.
Friday and Saturday nights the pubs were rammed.Dreaded having to get a round in in some of the pubs as it took ages to get served.
There was a M&S, Debenhams, Woolworths and many more shops which have long gone.
The parlours and independent workers seemed to have greater choice for us punters as well ,with fresh faces and theme nights.
Could say the same of all towns these days I guess.
Those were the glory days of my early ventures into punting.
It's all very run down now. Grumpy old man? Join the club Hornypunter !!

Re: Hull going downhill .
Nightlife in Hull is now limited to Fridays and Saturdays. The rest of the week it's dead. Twenty years ago the weekend used to last from Thursday teatime to Sunday evening. Many pubs don't even open on Monday and Tuesday. There are very few places to eat in the city centre in thd evening.
And don't even get me started on the punting scene....
